Indonesia has decided to extend the visa policy for 84 more countries started Dec 2015 to boost tourism in the country. In June, Joko Widodo President of Indonesia signed a visa exemption regulation, which originally included 45 countries as part of its efforts to attract more tourists and improve relations with these countries.

Coordination Minister Rizal Ramli Marine Indonesia confirms expansion without effective visa policy an additional 84 countries this week. He said the number of countries under the policy 174.

Free Visa Policy
Secretary of the Indonesian government has recently stressed that a free visa to foreign nationals from certain countries and the SAR government granted based on the "principle of reciprocity and the principle of profit."As part of the visa-free policy, foreign nationals from certain countries are exempt from the requirement to obtain a visitor's visa to enter Indonesia. They can enter the country through immigration checkpoints and to get a visit permit to stay for 30 days. The validity period can not be extended or converted into other residence permit.
Indonesia is targeting 20 million foreign visitors by 2019
Since the implementation of the visa policy, the number of tourists entering the country increased by 19% from year to year. Minister Rizal said the latest rise in tourism is significantly higher than the annual growth of 6% to 8%.The minister expects the expansion of visa-free policy will increase the arrivals of foreign visitors to the country. Indonesia aims to increase the number of foreigners as many as 20 million visitors in 2019.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Cabinet Secretary Pramono Agung said eighth state economic package consists of three aspects: political map with a scale of 1: 50,000, accelerate the development and construction of oil refineries, and incentives for aircraft maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) company.
According to Pramono, the economic policy package is to improve Indonesia's competitiveness in the global market. He said: "Inevitably, we must be prepared to inaugurate the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), and that the government is making preparations in many ways this is the time to prepare for the AEC to improve."
